Tetris FAQ
What are the basic controls in Tetris?
Move the falling piece left and right, rotate it to fit, and soft-drop or hard-drop it into place. The goal is to complete horizontal rows - a completed row clears and everything above drops down. The game ends when the stack reaches the top.
What is a Tetris and how many points does it score?
A Tetris is clearing four rows at once with a single I-piece. It scores significantly more than four separate single-row clears, which is why experienced players keep one column open and wait for the long piece rather than filling the well early.
What is the best Tetris strategy for beginners?
Keep the stack flat, and keep the far-right column reserved for the I-piece. Avoid creating holes, since a single covered hole forces you to dig out and usually ends the run. Look at the next-piece preview before you commit, and place pieces deliberately instead of reacting to the fall.
Does Tetris speed up over time?
Yes. Pieces fall faster as your level rises, and levels increase as you clear lines. The speed eventually outpaces even expert players, so every game ends - the score is the measure of how long you survived, not whether you won.
Is this Tetris free to play in a browser?
Yes. No download, no sign-up and no account. The page opens on a phone, but full controls require a physical keyboard, so play on a computer.
